Achieving the Ocean.US' goal of establishing the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) can be aided by defining required quality control standards, basic metadata information and supported data transport methods. This page lists IOOS activities/workshops/meetings which work toward this goal.
• A “Salinity Data Best Practices Workshop” was held in Charleston, SC August 3-4, 2005. It was hosted by NOAA’s Coastal Services Center. The final report of the salinity workshop can is available here.
• Southeast Regional Data Management Workshop was held March 9-10, 2006 in Chapel Hill, NC. It was hosted by SECOORA and SEACOOS. The main focus of this workshop was on data sharing, translation and QA/QC of ocean currents and ocean temperature primarily between Regional Associations. Blending everything with regard to data management: data sharing, aggregation, essential metadata, display, uncertainties, circulation models, fisheries, search and rescue.
